Oka Sushi returning to downtown Lake Worth Beach
Popular sushi bar gearing up to re-open in collaboration with The Library, the speakeasy at Lilo’s Streetfood & Bar
Oka Sushi is returning to downtown Lake Worth Beach, but in a new location.
The popular sushi bar had been located at 817 Lake Avenue since 2018 before closing two months ago because of a disagreement with the landlord.
Disappointed with the loss, the owner of a separate downtown eatery, Lilo’s Streetfood & Bar, reached out to work on a solution to keep Oka Sushi serving in downtown Lake Worth Beach.
Now, Oka Sushi is gearing up to re-open in a new collaboration with The Library, the popular speakeasy at Lilo’s Streetfood & Bar at Lake Avenue and S. K Street.
The new sushi spot will start offering take out in early November followed by a new dining space in the Library later that same month, said Lilo’s owner Joe Lipovich Sr.
The Library will continue operating as is, meaning you can order a fresh Miami Heat roll from Oka and one of The Library’s signature cocktails all in the same location.
“It’s going to be hit,’’ he said. “Reputation-wise, Oka Sushi is superior. Their customers have been asking when they’ll open again.’’
While the new spot initially will not offer the same menu as the old one, it will feature the same fresh signature sushi along with some hot appetizers, he said.
A name for the new eatery is being worked out but one idea is Oka Sushi: Library Edition. Precise roll-out dates for the takeout and restaurant will be announced soon.
Lilo’s opened in 2016 and The Library opened in 2018.
