New Par 4 design will replace temporary short third hole at Lake Worth Beach Golf Club
But a Parrot Cove resident, worried about errant golf balls landing in the neighborhood, is threatening a lawsuit to block the move
The short course experiment at the Lake Worth Beach Golf Club is coming to an end, and some Parrot Cove residents aren’t happy about it.
City commissioners agreed Aug. 19 to go back to a Par 4 on the third hole, but with a new design: The tee box will be moved to the right and golfers will swing about 45 degrees more to the left of the fairway, away from homes on the west edge of the 18-hole course.
“It's going to reduce golf balls going into homes. It’s going to take some danger away,’’ Marty Caifano, the city’s golf course manager, told commissioners.
He also said there was no way to know if the new Par 4 design would “solve the problem…We won’t know until we try it.’’
