“LULA Lights” promises colorful makeover of Lake Worth Beach Tri-Rail station

Lake Worth Beach’s Tri-Rail station may soon get a burst of colorful improvements under a “LULA Lights” plan presented Tuesday night to city commissioners.

“Kind of an unusual project. It would be the first of its type in southeast Florida if we are able to make this one happen,’’ said Kim DeLaney of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council.

Borrowing from successful projects like “The Canopy” in Orlando and “Light Channels” in San Antonio, Texas, the plan would add colorful LED lighting, a mosaic art feature, landscaping and other improvements to the otherwise drab-looking area around the station, located beneath an Interstate 95 underpass just west of Lake Worth High School.
