Lake Worth Road repaving project topic of FDOT public meetings Oct. 9
The year-long project, expected to start in 2027, affects a half-mile stretch near John Prince Memorial Park.
A half-mile stretch of Lake Worth Road just west of Interstate 95 will be re-paved and enhanced in a $2.1 million project expected to start in winter 2027.
The Florida Department of Transportation will host two public meetings Thursday, Oct. 9, one online at 5:30 p.m. followed by an in-person presentation at Palm Beach State College’s Lake Worth Beach campus at 6:30 p.m. (Details below.)
The project area for the work, expected to end in winter 2028, runs from roughly Erie Street west to Everett Court just north of Lake Osborne and John Prince Memorial Park.
Aside from repaving the road, a DOT contractor will:
Install backplates with yellow retro-reflective borders on all signal heads to improve signal visibility for motorists.
Install new pedestrian pushbutton and countdown heads at traffic signals at Boutwell Road/Lake Osborne Drive and Akron Street to as guides to help pedestrians safely cross Lake worth Road.
Reconstruct damaged sidewalks and pull boxes to make it safer for pedestrians.
Close the existing full-median opening at S. Buffalo Street to improve traveler safety.
Extend the southbound left-turn lane at Lake Osborne Drive/Boutwell Road to improve traveler safety.
Convert the existing full median opening at Detroit Street to a directional median opening.
The work will be done in phases to alleviate delays for motorists and pedestrians. Temporary lane closures will occur one lane at a time during non-peak hours.
Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times. Access to properties along the corridor will be maintained during construction.
