Coming to Lake Worth Playhouse: Paul Anka tribute singer who pinch-hits during spring training
Vocalist Lou Villano will start his 20th baseball season six days after his Feb. 15 Lake Worth Beach show
Major League Baseball players aren’t the only ones preparing for spring training this month.
Lou Villano, a talented vocalist from Palm Beach Gardens, is getting ready, too, and you can catch him in action next weekend in downtown Lake Worth Beach.
Villano is the long-time scorekeeper at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, where he records the runs, hits and errors at just about every St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins spring training game.
Sometimes he takes the field, where he absolutely knocks it out of the park when he sings the National Anthem. He belts out the hits off the field, too, singing classics like “My Way” and “Put Your Head on my Shoulder” at tribute shows he performs around South Florida, New York and New England.
Villano will bring his signature Paul Anka tribute show to the Lake Worth Playhouse at 2 p.m. Feb. 15.
“Sweet Lou,’’ as he is known, not only sings like Paul Anka, he looks like Paul Anka, right down to their heights, facial structures and stylish receding hairlines!
“He’s got quite a resemblance to him,’’ said Tony Nicolosi, who plays guitar in the tribute show’s backup band. “It’s a really well thought-out show. He talks in the first person and truly makes you believe he is Paul Anka.’’
Six days after his Lake Worth Beach gig, he will start his 20th season in the press box in Jupiter, scoring the Cardinals’ Grapefruit League opener against the Washington Nationals.
