10-Year Lake Worth Beach PBSO plan faces pushback from immigrant advocates

While the proposal calls for a new park rangers program, activists demand an end to local cooperation with federal immigration actions

CITY COMMISSIONERS ON Aug. 18 will consider a new 10-year agreement with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office for continued law enforcement services, including a new park ranger program.

But a coalition of immigrant advocates is urging Lake Worth Beach leaders to reject the proposal. The advocates plan to hold a press conference outside City Hall on Aug. 13 to demand that deputies stop collaborating with federal immigration enforcement actions that have disrupted many families in town.
